Malfunction of driver's seat switches / memory buttons!

Yesterday I noticed following weird things..

1. The switch next to the driver seat’s headrest (that takes the seat all the way in front) stopped working. i.e. cannot bring the seat forward by this button and have to do that through the door’s switches…

2. The switch on the driver’s door (the one controlling/adjusting seat back/forward) is malfunctioning. For instance, when I want to take the back of the seat backwards, the back seat moves forward.. I thought of just pushing memory-1 button to re-adjust the seat in my previous optimal position, but same did not work as it should and the seat does not fully 'listen' to the memory button as it should..

Should I assume short circuits? How do I solve the above?

Appreciate your help.

George

I had the same problem with the malfunctioning driver's door seat button a few months ago. When I try to lay the seat back, my seat moves forward. I brought it in for service and they fixed it. Last week, the problem came back. My Keyless go is out again too. I'll save up for one more problem then bring her in.

What (did they tell you) was the problem? Did they have to rip the door apart?

I think MB needs to give all 2003 owners their money back.

There are over 20 control modules (computers) in that car. Like the computer on your desktop they can malfunction.

I have found in the majority of the cases that shutting off the engine and allowing the car to come to rest and then restarting will in fact solve most problems.

This issue has gotten better as they have evolved these control modules.

This happened in my 2007, so its not just the 2003 gremlins.

I ended up getting it to work on my own by using the manual seat adjustment buttons on the door to slide the seat back and forth as far as it would go and this seemed to reset it. Dunno why.

Funny, thats how I fixed most of my glitchs.
My radio wouldnt work sometimes and my ac wouldnt blow cold.
Id turn the car off, wait thirty seconds then restart and whatever wasnt working would work again.
