Shake in steering wheel due to flat spot?
I had a shake in my steering wheel from 30-50 MPH. It was definately alot worse when the car was cold...if it had been sitting. Once the car warmed up, it went away for the most part.
My car was the dealer today and I had them check it out. I was told I had a flat spot in one of my tires and that it went away once the tires warmed up. The advisor said this was normal on low profile tires (I have the stock AMG 18's). Does this sound right? Why do tires get flat spots, does it mean the tire itself isn't real good?

I've experienced this with my 2007 SL550 since the weather turned cold. I think it has to do with the soft tire compound and low profile tires. It stops after a few miles of driving, but is distressing while it is ongoing. I've had it with other performance cars, like my 911 and an M5. Not to worry.
