All I can say is that I fell in love with them at first sight. I was at the MB dealer when I saw a 07 SL65 sitting in the parking lot. I've noticed that the middle section is a little lighter and smoked compared to the 03-06 AMG rear tail lights where it is a darker smoked in the center. I asked the parts people and they are uncertain it will fit the older R230's.....can anyone confirm fitiment before I purchase? Im also looking at the matching third brake lights!!

I was told it may not work because its LED's on the bottom but the plugs looks to be similiar to all the R230 chassises??

 

Do a search, this has been discussed at least 4 times.

 

Doh!!! I keep forgetting about that damn search tab. Im still at work so Im just posting and checking when I can. But anyways I did the search and it appears that it has been done. Damn dealers couldnt even tell me if it was possible.

Jbigelow....looks good, but now the center brake strip looks odd.................how is it on a stock 65? Are u going to change it?

 

He changed both taillights as well as the third brake light to the 07 AMG lights. The SL55 and the SL65 both have that same set up as the ones in the pictures.

 

upon closer inspection i stand corrected....it is smoked lightly....i think it looked odd at first because of stark contrast to the white paint....and those pics are not that great .....anyway to each his own i say

Sorry to thread jack, so it is confirmed that the 07 AMG tail lights will fit any R230 SL Model? Cause I have a 2003 SL, planning to order the AMG tail lights, just wondering whether the 07 one will fit (Since the white SL above is 2006).

One more question, the 07 AMG Tail lights part no. is B6 602 0952 (Got it from AMG website), right?

 

Yes they will fit any R230 model. I have double checked on this entire forum and it seems to have been done without a problem.

By the way when you do order it keep me posted on costs and if they gave you crap on buying them. If not Ill buy where your buying!!

i got them at my local mercedes dealer. i had a itsby bitsy ding on the hood which dentless repair could not get to to fix. the ding is barely noticeable, but i'm ****. so the dealer took care of me and the ding by giving the amg taillights and center brake light at a phenomenal cost and free install. i guess it helps to have a good relationship with the salesperson, finance manger, service advisor, and parts manager. this is my first mercedes and my local dealership took care of me.

i have the amg taillights and third brake light part numbers. if you want them, let me know.

good luck on the parts and install. i heard it was a biatch!!!!

remember the story i told ya guys about my little ding/nick on my hood when i bought my car that my dealership couldn't fix with paintless dent removal. well, the ding was barely noticeable and my dealership took care of me and i paid a small price otd for the AMG taillights and clear center third brake light and free install from the dealership.

nice to have a good relationship with your dealerships' salesman, finance, service, and parts.
