Successful DVD set up

Hey guys. I just joined this forum. My name is Chris, I'm 19 and from Los Angeles. Business student at Purdue.

I wanted to know if anyone has successfully enabled DVD playback on their oem nav system in a 2003 SL500 (R230). If so, what is the hack? Thanks, and I'm happy to join this forum.

For the 2003-2004 models, you still have a CD-ROM based navigation system. Therefore, I would imagine that you would need to get an aftermarket DVD player, and THEN hook that up with your screen.....

That is what I have been told too. You will need that convertor as well but it is possible to do and was told it was a plug and play easy to do.

Good Luck

Thanks for the heads up. I thought I had a DVD system in it, like when I update the NAV system. If that is the case, where I would need to install a DVD system, I probably won't go through the trouble. Would have been cool to do though.

Most of the people I know that needs to add the DVD unit will put in in the glove box for easier access. Its not as hard as you think it is to do it. Just takes time and patiences.
