Help deciding on SL 600 or SL 65
Currently have an E63. Looking to add a convertible. Interested in buying either an SL 600 or SL 65. I am very peformance oriented.
Is there much difference in feel (acceleration) between the two?
Are there chips or other easy mods (want to try to preserve warranty), available for the 600 to boost its performance closer to the 65?
Thanks

There are all sorts of companies who make mods for the 600 which increase the performance. However, to reach 65 levels, it will likely be something which would be readily apparent to eh warranty police. God help you then if you have a problem with the 600 V12 which is not covered by the warranty. In terms of feel, the power levels are not dramatically different. However, the attitudes t of each of these cars is completely different - which it should be. If possible to drive both I would recommend doing so. For the SL600, you can dress it up with the AMG styling and wheels and still keep the more luxurious feel of the car. Also check out the interiors of each. The AMG model is clearly more sportive.

600 is a great bang for the buck with some mods compared to the 65...but I would take the 65 all day over a 600 if the deal was really sweet and just leave it stock.....the 65 is mack daddy baller status plus some

Renntech can upgrade the ECU of the SL600. You should get about 600hp out of a RennTech SL600. You can also chip the SL65 and get close to 700hp. If you are going to mod either car, RennTech is the way to go. Check out some of the guys on the SL55, SL65 forums.
