Intake system for SL600?

I had my stock intake apart the other day, and the stock filter box looks very restrictive, but there isnt much room for anything to replace it. Does anyone have any good experiences with aftermarket intakes for the 600, or know of companies that make an intake for it?

If I remember right RENNtech makes one, but as vrus found out (for the E55 at least) the RENNtech airbox was just the bottom of the AMG box, and the top in carbon fiber. :o

For the best fit try AMG65 air boxes. They are bigger than 600s.

I have been working a bit with Victor/Vrus on the airbox issue. I have been told by a couple of sources that they are identical boxes, they do have different part numbers but use the same airfilter. Vadim please lend some knowledge in this area if you can as its a huge stumbling block on the bi-turbo cars, as of right now there isnt even an aftermarket airfilter for it.

I pm'ed VRUS today concerning our airboxes. He is willing to get a project going for a custom carbon fiber airbox for the TT 600 engine if we can get 10 people together. Count me in!

Let's see if we can get a sticky on all the 2003 and later 600 forums. Surely we can get to 10.

From my understanding I thought that the regular Air Box and AMG Bottom box were identical? The only difference is the top portion? I could be wrong but thats what I was told. For example the renntech air box its basically the bottom of our covers and just a bit higher carbin fiber upper portion.....

there is no difference between the 600 and 65 airbox at all, there is a bit more to the renntech box then just volumizing the top on the biturbo box
