Installing SL55 wheel on a 2004 SL600

I saw this and was curious if it would work on a 2004 SL600?

It should work if you do not have the button shifers on the back of you wheel. If you do have the buttons, I think the connectors on the paddle shifters are different than the button shifters on the pre 2005 SL's.

It should bolt on thats not the question. Its if you want the paddles to work than most likely no it will not work. There are more components needed to make it work. Dont quote me....this is what I have been told.

If we can get the paddle functions to work on a non paddle shift car...hell I would be all up on it! I would love to have that feature added onto my car.

I have a 2004 with the 'solid' no shift button steering wheel. I am curious though, how would the paddles work then?

Again from what I have heard the pre 2005 shift buttons have different electronics and connectors that will not work with the paddles.

the steering wheel itself will work with your older airbag. Paddle shifters will not work and I have not wired a SL for paddle shifting before so I could not tell you.

I was told by the dealer that the old airbag dont work with this new wheel since its smaller?
The old airbag is to big and I would have to buy a new smaller airbag as well.
But if this works I would be very interesting as well!
I see that the wheel is located in Stockholm, Sweden where I live

I dont believe its doable on our cars without the shifting buttons but if it is possible to put it on a SL500 with modification than hell Im interested as well.

the airbag is the same. dealer is incorrect. Get new wheel with old airbag. It will work except for the paddle shifters.

Thanks Sunil for clearing that up!
I think I will buy it just to get that thicker wheel and dont use the paddle shifters.
One thing I dont like about the car right now is that bus stearing wheel..
