Tail Light DIY simplified

Thought this would be useful for those wanting to switch out the tail lights from SL500 to SL55. Process takes less than 20min. This may not be the "right way" for this process but if you are strapped for time, this is for you.

LOL, a couple of you asked why I have an SL50 badge on my write up? I don't! I was removing the badge while replacing the lights so for the record, I'm not trying to start an SL 50 club or anything! . I think the car gets a much cleaner, custom look without any badges other than the M logo in the center.

Oofreakoo, I used your write-up to upgrade to the 07 550 lights last night. Bought OEM from dealer for $775 after tax but saved a couple hundred bucks doing the install myself, many thanks to you.

It wasn't the easiest thing I've ever done, but it was manageable, the second one went much smoother. The 07 lights look awesome on my Iridium. I'll also add that the lights appear to be of better quality as well. If a member is considering the switch I really recommend as overall, I'm verryyyy pleased.

Thanks again for taking the time to do the write-up.

They're actually a dealership in Gainesville, FL, but who cares - they smoke Brumos, pricewise, on just about anything MB. I recommend them - they charged me $73 for an ML320 key versus Brumos that wanted $130.

Kudos on that write-up, it was phenomenal...

I thought maybe this was for people who couldn't afford a 320 and didn't mind having a .5 liter engine. 0 to 60 in 3 minutes flat!

oofreakoo, I like your red calipers. Did you also do those yourself?

Vincesgfb - I havent had time to install the center light yet but you're tempting me to stop by the stealer on the way home. If I do get one I will install this weekend and post it up.

johns13 - The calipers came with the car. They're stock with the sticker still on. Its one of those things that are "good from a far but far from a good" if you know what I mean. Shoreline out here in Hunt.Bch. CA does this professionally with the stickers for under 1k so I might hit them up unless I can find a better price first. These need Auto grade paint to really pop! The paint on mine seem high quality, it just looks like a rush job.
