DIY 2007 AMG SL55 Tail Lights
I also would like to thank you for taking the time to detail the steps necessary in completing this upgrade. After reading your post and DIY instructions, I decided to purchase a set of SL55 AMG tail lights for my SL500. Enclosed is a pic of my car pre new tail lights.

If you could please post instruction on how to replace the third brake light, I would really appreciate it. I've been waiting to learn how to do it, so I can replace all the rear lights at the same time.

THIS IS HOW I DID MY, THERE ARE MAYBE OTHERS WAY TO DO IT, BUT I FIND THIS WAY IS EASY AND FAST TOO..
1 UNCREW THESE ^^^
A (top) I USE A SPOON TO TAKE THESE OFF
B- UNCREW BY HAND
AFTER ALL THE CREW IN THE PICS ARE OFF PULL THE CARPET DOWN THEN YOU CAN SEE THE 2 NUTS THAT HOLD THE TOP BAKE LIGHT USE 10MM WRENCH TO REMOVE THESE A 6-8" RACHET WRENCH WITH MAGNETIC HEAD IS VERY USEFUL BECAUSE THE NUT ON THE PASS. SIDE HAS LIMITED SPACE. AFTER THE NUTS ARE OFF PULL THE LIGHT FROM OUTSIDE DISCONNECT THE ELECTRIC CONNECTOR AND CONNECT THE NEW LIGHT, USE THE OLD METAL BRACKET AND PUT THING BACK IN REVERSE ORDER.

2005 SL500
New Tail Lights Installed
I got my new tail lights early this week. This morning, I installed them. I absolutely love the new look. See pic. The conversion was a bit of a challenge in some spots. "Tight fit getting the 8 mm deep well socket around the tail light posts. Another area of frustration was one of the carpet locks. In trying to remove I ended up taking the top right off the male post. I did manage to finally get it out, but a trip to the MB dealer is planned for Monday to replace.
