NEVER EVER do that again, it's a SIN! There should be a law against this. Would you do this on a Lamborghini too? EVen thought it's the law, I wouldn't do it and cops won't pull you over for it.

Just my 2 cents.
He didn't have a option with a European Delivery. The front plate bracket would been installed at the factory, and the plates were put on at the delivery center before he ever saw the car. If a potential buyer doesn't need/desire a front plate, bumper plugs can fill the holes.

You have nice cops. Try that in jersey and you'll get enough tickets to paper the garage. It's all about the revenue.

A bit off-topic

Here's a painful front plate pic:

New SL buyer here.

I just bought an SL used and did a ton of research. I have found several dealers willing to give 10K+ discount as the 09 model will be a new design. So I can get a brand new 07 SL550 for under $90K.

Don't forget this car is over a year old now. It's common for a car to depreciate 20% after one year.

I bought my last car (not MB) at 11 months with 10K miles-- I paid 25% less than original price and 30% off MSRP. Cars are toys and not investments. That's just a fact of life in terms of premium products.

I also have a hobby in high end bicycles (think $8K-ish for a bike). The rule is generally 50% off after 2 years.

I know it's America and you can do whatever you want, but sellling a 1 yr old SL550 for $100K is just a joke.
