SL/R230: Is this transmission or engine oil?

Is this transmission or engine oil?
I found this (see thumbnail photo below) on my garage floor tonight after I pulled my SL out to wash it. My SL is only 14 months old. Is this an engine or transmission leak? I grew up in a family of (all) boys who loved cars and they always told me you could tell transmission oil from engine oil because of the red color of transmission oil. I am afraid it looks like transmission oil, but I could be wrong. I LOVE my car! What does this mean? Is this bad?

+1 I think it's oil too - although it's looks like two separate leaks it could be just from oil puddling up on the plastic pan underneath and running out at two sides. Could be spillage from an oil change???

Just Service A in January. No other car has parked in that spot in the garage, either. I will call MB service on Monday. For some reason, and maybe from reading this forum for over a year, I fear transmission problems, so when I saw those spots and saw the color I thought it was that for sure. But, since it is not clearly transmission oil, maybe it just a leaky seal or something more minor.
Something I have wondered. I am curious how many SL drivers use their shiftronic. Can you guys weigh in and tell me whether you use your shifttronic or not. I use mine all the time, and I wonder if that causes more stress on the transmission. It probably depends on shifting patterns.

I had a leak too
I had a leak too after a Service A, on a subsequent visit they found the tech put the wrong part number in on the bottom of the car and even though it was tight, it still leaked. I bet you have the same situation and a very easy fix. - OIL LEAK!!!!

I took my SL in today for the oil leak. It was an engine oil leak, due to a faulty valve cover. A new valve cover is on order and it will all be taken care of under warranty.
