Has anyone swapped out their '07 SL550 tail light lenses for the AMG lenses with the smoked center section? I'm looking for a set of the stock SL550 lenses with the clear center for my '03 SL.

 

If I had $1 for everytime this has been asked and discussed, I would have at least $25 by now.

 

You might apply whitish-clear paint to the centers to achieve similar results that you want

... but seriously, if I had two dollars everytime this question was asked...

 

I wouldn't touch the lenses with white paint. It would come out looking pink...

 

I appreciate everyone's good intentions, but I want real lenses and am trying to avoid the high dealer cost.

 

The lowbeam on my 04 S430 went out today - is this an easy fix? It's under warranty but this is prob not covered and the dealer is a hassel

I tried the same, it'll be tough since there is much more demand then supply in this case...

I ended up having them painted and love the work HMS did.

 

I have a set of '04 SL600 tail lights for sale. I replaced mine with the smoked AMG lights a few years back. Lights are in the AMG box and read to ship!

 

Thanks Trimmer2, I'm looking for a set of '07 SL tail lights with the clear/white center to replace the all red on my '03. I was hoping to find someone who had swapped out his to put in the AMG smoked lenses.

Thanks for the tip on Duvall. I bought my taillights from him at a considerable savings vs my local dealer. Since I had already swapped out my sport bumper for an AMG and replaced the mufflers with AMG quad tips, I opted for the smoked lenses and cleaned off trunk lid badge.
If the snow ever melts around here, I'll post some pictures.
If anyone needs SL500 mufflers and taillight assemblies, PM me.

 

I just sold the clear lenses I had bought off ebay, I didn't like the look as much on the 03 body. It doesn't match with the front bumper, looked weird. Anyway, wish you told me sooner!

 

Just switched my '05 SL500 today to the clear '08 style lights. A bear of a job--took 3 hours but I'm very happy with the looks. Now to switch the wheels when I buy new tires.
