SL/R230: My latest darling...

20" Rims (9 & 10) from Scottsdale AZ at eurowheelsusa.
Lip spoiler from myroadster.net. Thanks Murtaza for the tip!
Front bumper and grill are 2007 SL65.
Lowerd with links.
Side windows have the most transparent film. Rear film is darker.
Tuning is ECU with estimated 580-600 crank HP. But on thursday I'm taking it to the Dyno.
Exaust are straight aftermarket pipes with the resonators removed. I have the sound for you (as promised for two months ago) on a small movie, but I do not know how to attach it here... How should I do that?
Have fun and be safe.
Why should he care what you prefer?
Lets see, what if: "Im not a fan of strangers telling people what to do with their cars. Id prefer they kept their opinion to themselves and learn asap that beauty is subjective."
There, how was that. Dont I get the same privileges you do?

Speaking of the emblems I have an 05 SL600 with no badging except a V12 symbol on the front fenders. No bi-turbo front or rear. No V12 on the rear. Does anyone know if this is how the SL600 came, or did the previous owner debadge it?
Love your 600 Maxabo. Can you tell me what you did for exhaust and what you had to do for the rear bumber and skirt? Pics of the rear skirt would certainly be appreciated. I have plans to go a similar route if I can figure out what I have to do.

The Best of Mercedes & AMG

I'm thinking of painting the spokes in the same colour as the car though (obsidianblack met), but I can't seem to make up my mind in the matter.
As far as the badging goes, I personally put the "V12 Biturbo" on there. They originally come with "V12" on the fenders and "SL600" in the back. I'm not defending the guys who "emblem-tune" there cars.
Quite the opposite!
But since there is a TT in there, I bought the emblems for the 65. I guess it's fair to say that I like to show people what I got, and what MB can do. Many people out there, doesn't even know that an engine like that even exists (here in sweden, that is).
Now the exausts. The tips come from an ordinary retailer, and instead of the resonator on each side, we just put straight pipes. The bumper is stock, we just made the holes bigger.
It's not pretty under there with the curves, but neither are the AMG's, since there is such a small compartment back there. So this is the only way, if you still want your spare tire space intact.
(I'm attaching more pics.)
On my 2004 S600 we did the same procedure, but that one had a lot more space back there of course, so there it was easier.
But I have to say, that I prefered the sound from the S-class. It sounded smoother sort of. Why this one got a little bit of the 8-cylinder-bubbling-kinda-sound and louder, I can't say. Perhaps because the car is shorter, I don't know... And as I recall it, the S-class had a two resonators. This one has/had only one.
And Murtaza, I'm looking in to this youtube to see if I can arrange the video...

maxabo: Like I said before word for word... I love your car and I do think the rims look good. You obviously have great taste in vehicles and from seeing the SL65 front end and excellent exhausts mods, I think it may be worth it to finish off the look with some awesome 3 piece rims...either way your SL is one of the best I've seen for a while. I do think the SL600 in stock form is quite a sleeper badge wise , but also think this particularly elegant and extremely tasteful $130k+ car does not need an extra badge on the rear to proclaim its engine type and size....however the V12 on the rear must be imposing when you smoke past certain Porsches and Beemers.

Anyway, I too think the V12 BiTurbo badge on the rear is a little excessive. On the fenders should be where its at. For the guy who asked, SL600s only came with V12 badges on the sides.
can you pm me with the cost of the front bumper and all the associated parts so i have an idea what im in for?
thanks,
g
I actually like the V12 badges between the fins the 600 comes with stock...
You really need black wheels to, what wheels do you have in your avatar?
I guess that we are in the minority. Like you, I like a little bit of flash in my cars (I did the V12 Biturbo rear badge and 19" SL65 wheels on my SL600). In addition, my Ferrari is carbon fibered out, and my Escalade has factory 22" chromes. If I need to travel the less conspicuous road, I drive the rarely driven, boring, stone-stock E350. As the old adage goes, beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Great job!
Tim

Anyways I am sure you are going to enjoy it.

Nowadays, it just looks to much "394 HP and normally respirated" to me.
But the car in my avatar is the same. But back then it was all stock. So I "Photoshoped" it to see what I thought of black wheels on it etc... And really dark tinted windows. The thing is, we are here only aloud to have that dark in "Photoshop"... On the street, we would get pulled over.
Wish me luck today, cause I'm on my way to the Dyno this afternoon!
PS. I've been looking in to youtube as u mensioned, but can't hack it...
I log in.
Then I click on "Upload".
And there they want me to send an email to myself (for some reason), and to confirm my password again.
Then it says "Password incorrect"...

But what we did was, that we took the big thing there away. So the silencer/muffler/resonator that is located about a feet from the bumper comes off completely.
And instead of that "thing", we just put a 2,5" pipe. Then on to that pipe, we put the tips (I think you call it tips)...
And that's about it. Looks terrible from underneith, but great from the outside!
And as you presumably allready guessed, with the emblems and all, apperence is the story of my life...
