M6 Gran Coupe
Not to mention, the car in the video does not look that different at all.
It's hard to say until the covering is off.

2003 sl500 23k miles
You are bidding on a 2003 Mercedes Benz SL500 Roadster with 23815 miles. The exterior is black with a tan leather interior. The car is in excellent condition with a clean car fax. The car is well equipped with standard power windows, locks, slip/traction control, wood trim, navigation, xenon lights, air conditioning, dual power heated seats, rear wind deflector screen, cd changer, etc. The car has been stored winters and only driven on nice summer days. This by far is the BEST COLOR COMBO. ( Black/Tan)
US $42,000.00 KBB IS $63,020.00

Once these cars start selling in these price ranges the demand will drop way off for them. Some stuffy rich people, 75% of the high end Mercedes buyers, don't want to pull up to a tea party in Beverly Hills driving a ~35k car. I stand by my statements I made, the bottom is going to fall out of the Sl values soon. If I am wrong I will come back and admit it, but don't hold your breath waiting for me to do so.

As long as the ones on dealers lots are going for the higher prices the cars will be holding their value. See the prices in my previous post. Sure you can find these "great" deals. But I question if these cars are what they say they are. I bought a NSX 1991 around 1996 for around $31K drove it for 2 years and sold it for $32K. Car values are hard to determine in the future. Enjoy your ride.

people as a dealer I can tell you they will keep plummeting regardless of what you do or do not believe. Don't believe me? I bought a 1996 SL600 last year for 10.5K....that was once a 130K car it only had 77K miles. These cars are not investments, they're made for us to enjoy, and if you lose 50K over 24 months....big deal, Steve is right this is not a ferrari and won't hold value as such, but you know what it does that the ferrair doesnt....start right up when you want it to. Lord knows the newer ferraris are light years better, but I own a 355 and I go into the garage praying its gonna start each and every time I use it. The SL55 always starts right up and has never once broken down on me, I love it to death and don't mind losing 30K on mine to drive it for 2 years, thats $1500/month....$50/day to drive one of the worlds most amazing machines in reality that is a bargain.

Ferrari 360, exactly where I am parking my car fun money for a while. I am coming back some day to the SL but after the new body style takes it first big slam of depreciation. I drove my SL55 for one year and lost ~15k, not to bad IMO. Sure was a fun car.

I bought me CPO 2003 SL500 and got two more years added to the 100K extended CPO warranty. I paid high $40K's with the warranty. Figure I can drive it for 3 years and it will still be worth $20K+ So if I lose $$20-25K to drive this beautiful vehicle and have any problems covered by Mercedes is a real bargain. Anymore you have to pay high $40K for just a normal luxury car. I think the key to driving one is buying after they went down in value and then cover your butt with the warranty.

Hmmmm!! Maybe this is why I can't sell my 2005 SL500. I might be a little high at the asking price of $220k.

Unless as posted above, if you are a dealer, then the $220k is right on target - maybe even a bit low.

I'd put $ on it. Want to met my SL won't drop even half that when the update comes out?

Also, I am talking the 2009 SL....NOT when they redesign it and call it something other than the 230 because they will drop then. The 2002 SL is a prime example.

Question

What changes/improvements would you like to see for the all new SL due in 2011?
Lighter?
More power?
Sportier?
More luxurious?
Better fuel economy?
Better interior design?
Total departure from the current R230 look?
------------?

Rain-sensing auto roof closing feature for when SL is parked/unoccupied.

Cupholders that my coffee won't spill into my nav unit nor occupy 15% of my passanger floorspace.

Better MP3-MP4 integration.

Another dashlight color.

Or power seats that crush the $125.00 (seat) cupholder as it smashes against the lower dash when a passenger attempts to access the rear shelf.

Wow....Hmmm....

I think the new facelift looks nice. It gives the SL an updated look. I think Mercedes had to do this, even though I don't want the facelift to come out.

I guess they had to do something to follow the new EU regulations for the front bumpers.

Does anyone know EXACTLY when the facelifted SL will come out next year?

Sunny we've owned a lot of the same cars. RX7TT, Landcruiser, SL. I don't see the new facelift as looking nice. It is a government requirement that changes the design/balance of the car. The current SL is used as a design example in schools because it is an example of great car design. I think the new changes hurt the balance of the design. I guess we will have to see it in-person to make a final judgement.

I agree. The current model looks classic. I know that once the new model makes its debut, it will catch on, but I have my reservations.

The SL is heavy enough so I'd say pass on AWD.

Over the years the SL seems to top itself with almost every new body style and I have a feeling the all new SL won't disappoint
