I just came back from my first service from the local dealer to have a leak fixed and to have the seat belt retractor fixed. When I take the belt off I have to yank it a few times before it will pull up in to the retractor. So they wrote a whole explanation of how they fixed it but it still doesn't work. Instead they left a greasy fingerprint there and made smudges all over the sill plate. They did wash the car which was very nice. I guess I will go back tomorrow to inquire about the belt. Echh.

I went there today and the service guy told me they replaced the belt with a new one. W
hen I explained that it is still broken he suggested that there is probably nothing they can do since the car is older. WOW a '05 SL500 with 9,000 miles must be really old..........

I wouldn't take that. Go back and ask to speak to his boss, and then his bosses boss. There is no excuse in making a comment like that. Ask them if they don't think enough to stand behind a 2 year old vehicle with 9000 miles sounds right to them. I think Ford or Kia or Chevy or Toyota or even any other Mercedes dealership would not say that. Someone needs to be confronted on that comment and the car can be fixed and should be fixed. I have an 03 sl500 and my seatbelt works right. Originally Posted by AfterlifeBand

Thanks. I appreciate you saying that. When the weather clears up I will be back to them. I also realized that the passenger side does the same thing.
There is an SL600 on the floor of the service dept and I tested the seat belts and they retract nicely so I know mine are not right. Thanks.
