I have finally finished transforming the rear of my SL to the AMG style. Replaced the rear bumper cover, taillight assemblies and put on AMG mufflers w/dual tips. I want to thank the forum members who offered great advice and steered me to sources other than my local dealer for parts.
I am selling the original parts in the classified forum, (F/S R230 Parts). If any one is interested, I'll look at all offers for all or separate pieces. All are in perfect condition.
I'll post some pictures when the snow melts in front of my garage.

Congratulations, I bet you're a happy camper! Did you install the rear bumper that has the mesh filler panel or the solid plastic (filler panel)?

I bought an AMG SL55/65 bumper cover with the mesh insert which also allowed me to install the dual tip AMG mufflers

Hey, I have the same AMG parts on my 2003 designo. did you put the AMG front air dam on your SL? This would complete the package. Looking forward to seeing the pictures.

The new exhaust note is great! Just enough soft rumble to offset and balance the engine sound under acceleration. A great surprise.
I ended up using the original bumper inserts. Installation was done by MB authorized body shop. Owner showed me that clearances were virtually identical to front inserts and he did not recommend changing them. Car is a dark color, Agean Blue and that may have an effect on the visual clues.
It is snowing here right now so I will have to wait a bit to get it out for some pictures.

Car had the AMG sport package so all I did was add the AMG rear bumper cover and mufflers. I also removed the badges on the trunk lid. Looks so much better with the clean look,at least to me. I guess it's a throw back to my teenage years when no chrome was the rage. I'll post some pics as soon as the weather clears here in Northern Nevada.

Hey, I just picked up my 2004 SL500 with only 15K miles that looks and drive like brand new. I also like to upgrade my rear taillights and bumper and...to an AMG look. I'm new in this site and forum. Could somebody point me to the right direction. Maybe what I can do with the car and where can I get the parts. I appreciate it,
