They only look exotic now because people haven't seen them much. When they become a lot more common they won't be so special, especially considering it's an Audi IMO which is a name that carries less weight then MB or BMW.

My girlfriend called me and told me she saw one down the street from her house with dealer plates on it and she said it was beauitful.......yeah audi's name def carries less weight than BMW or MB but alot of people I know are Audi crazy they think there better than Benz and BMW....I dont like the audis at all (besides the R8) i think there plain looking etc.....thats why when i saw the R8 I couldnt believe it was from audi............

Put a deposit down this past week with my local dealer here in Houston....number 11 on the list. I have yet to see it in the flesh! They told me that they will be delivering one next week, so I'm looking forward to seeing it in person, and becoming #10 Still, I'm looking at 1-2 years out for delivery.

I picked up my R8 yesterday. Silver will carbon fiber side blades... I traded in SL although I really did not want to. The car is pretty amazing. Just driving it home from dealer, I had people taking pictures on the road. It is a real head turner.

I absolutely love the car! I will post pics I am dropping off at dealer tomorrow for then to detail it. I did not want to wait...

Congrats!! Would love to hear your impressions, especially since I will be coming from a 2005 SL500 as well!! R-tronic or 6-speed? My current order is the former, but I'm having second thoughts. Do you know if the carbon sigma blades are still available?

Oh and I may be changing my mind in regards to liking the new Maserati over the R8

I got the manual instead of the automatic. I really enjoy driving and there is nothing like the gate shifter on the R8. I have driven both but I had heard some negative comments on forums regarding the automatic. Not sure how true but for me, manual is perfect. The carbon fiber blades are no longer going to be an option. You can however get them after market...but they are pricey.

I also was interested in the Gran Turismo but just felt like this was the car for me. The front LEDs are sweet when you are coming up on someone. They just look hot. I did pay a premium 157k, but I have all the options. There was an automatic coming in after mine but it was 10k more! It was definitely expensive, but for me...worth it!!

I spent some time driving today and the car just does what you want. If anyone is in Tampa and wants to check it out... let me know...

+1...but they are slightly different in that the Lambo is supposedly not as good of a daily driver/commuter car while the R8 is said to be very refined etc.

BTW - My buddy has a Lambo and it is certainly not a daily driver... it is very expensive to service and it seems that is needs service every 1000 miles. I have driven this car to work several times and it does very well as a daily driver...
