After getting off the freeway onto a surface street in my SL, I noticed that the performance was sluggish. I stopped at a stoplight and then the car wouldn't move. I couldn't downshift the trans. When I shifted into neutral, the engine revved. I turned the ignition off and then on and the SL now runs. Does anyone have any ideas?

After several days, the discovered a problem in the EHS valve body. They installed a new valve body and it seems to be fixed although it's a little jerky when I start from a stop.

I bought the MBZ ELW warranty when I purchased to car and the warranty covered this failure.

Glad to hear they fixed (or almost fixed it) for ya. You don't want to have the trans go out on you while you're cruising down Prospect-

I'm waiting to put my Ext Warranty to use on something major and get my $4500 back! haha

I had the same problem in my 05 C55 before...
same exact thing happened, no power to the wheels...just kept engine revving...

I had a complete gearbox failure on my previous R129 SL600, at current exchange rates, more than $10000 for a MB replacement. I got it rebuilt for half that but the carnage inside was unbelievable.

I parked my SL in a public garage. Everything was perfect, but when i returned after an hour, gearbox was stuck on parking and wouldnt change kindly or even when i tried as hard as i could.. MB service told me its a failure, they towed my car into service and had the gearbox changed! F***ed up, didnt expect that from a car that never had any problems..
