Possible to use 12mm lug bolt size rims on our 14mm cars?

Just exploring here. Ignoring width/offset issues, is it possible to use rims from a CLK (or old E-Class, C-Class, etc. for that matter) on our SLs? The smaller benzes use 12mmx1.50 bolts vs. our 14mmx1.50 bolts.

The W210 guys do the opposite just fine when they put on W211 rims using adapter bolts with 12mm shaft and 14mm head... Does the converse exist? Has anyone done it before?

you not only need to check length but also seat type.

What advantage or upside does this serve on the SL? Wouldn't you just rather stay with the original size?

They only advantage is you'd be able to fit wheels from the 12mm cars (CLK, old E-class, C-class, etc.)
