Trunk doesn't stay up

Longtime lurker, now posting because I have some problems with my trunk. I have a difficult time loading stuff in it now because the trunk falls down so quickly (which is dangerous for anyone's head) and I have to hold it up with one arm, while I maneuver the loading/unloading. Has anyone experienced this problem, is it an easy fix or do I have to bring the car in?

There are two small struts on the outer edge of each side of the trunk mechanism. They eventually wear out and can be found at the dealer, online etc. Not sure how these specifically swap out, but normally you just pop them off by pushing the top and bottom outward...

The struts on the trunk lid are easy to replace. Each side is a ball joint, held together by a retention clip. Get the new ones from your local dealer, look at the ends of the struts, open the ball joint by partially removing the metal clip w /a small screw driver, they are self explanitory. Oh, prop the trunk lid up or you will get whacked in the head just after you remove the first strut.

Thanks for the replies. By chance, does anyone know the part #s for these?

edit...

I stopped by the parts desk and ordered 2 new struts, prices aren't bad.

Very simple fix, Did it a while ago because while my trunk
was not dropping, it was not springing up like how I would
prefer.

After the parts came in, I finally spared some time to get them installed. $60 for the install.. not bad at all. Now my trunk is very sturdy and stays PUT.

Did you pay $60 to have them installed?!?!

Its a simple 5 min job, no harder than changing a light bulb
on a living room lamp!
