Creaking from roof......
Hi,
I have read some of the threads and as you may know I am new to R 230 SL ownership. My last SL was a R129 with the soft retractable top. No squeeks or creeks. My 2003 SL 500 has a few.
I followed some of the leads and lubricated the hinges and effacements but still hear quite a lot of noise when I have it on- mainly accellerating, decellerating and in cornering.
Is this something I have to live with?

Its a problem with 03 they got it quieter in later years.
Take it in and let them know, not sure what it would cost. Maybe they strengthened the body so it would not flex as much. My current 04 doesnt make a squeek, I had actually forgot about this problem. I helped my dad get a 03 SL and when I took it to him I remembered it squeeked a lot on uneven gound an in bumps.
1 solution, leave the top down!!!

Couple of years ago when the car was in for its 1st service I mentioned there was the odd squeak going over rough ground. Got it back and it's been quiet ever since. Guess they know what to lub.
