SL/R230: Problem with top on 2005 SL500

Problem with top on 2005 SL500
We noticed last week that red button in the trunk that lifts the top slightly when it is retracted no longer works. Tonight when we were out to dinner, my wife forced up the top to put something in the trunk. Now the top is stuck part way open and the error light says "close trunk partition". The top won't go up or down. Has this happened to anyone?

I heard of this before
I heard of this one before, I suspect the stops on the top that prevent it from getting lower when it is not supposed to have been forced under the interior trim piece, pull them back out and I bet the top will go up and down again. I know my descrption may not make a lot of sense, if you want I can take a photo.
