I searched around, but no luck.

Has anyone hardwired their V1 and if so what did you tap into for power?

Thanks

I was going to post that very question. I'm planning to take the power from the mirror overhead area. Plenty of ignition or accessory sources there and it elimimates the need to run wires around the windshield and down the A pillar. Does anyone have a diagram of how to remove the light assembly? I just don't want to break anything. Thanks for any help. btw, I've already made a short modular power plug with 12V+ and negative leads. All I have to do is id the wires, tap with fuses, and I'm good to go.

I had to go into my instrument cluster to get switch power. I actually had my tech do it. Every wire we checked had constant power. He finally gave up and pulled the instrument cluster. It worked, but I have to believe there is an easier way.

My take is there should be an ignition wire somewhere up there because the homelink is only active when the ignition is on. So I'm 99.9% sure the wire is there. I suppose I'll just have to take my time and slowly start to disassemble the overhead light area.

you're better off using the power from behind the instrument cluster and use the concealed display from V1 in your instrument cluster. then run your wires thru the A pillar to the V1. this way you can keep your eyes on the road while you monitor those arrows and you can keep the V1 higher up outta sight.

I'm not too worried about being too stealth. I'm planning on either sticking it to the windshield or clipping it to the visor. It needs to be able to move from the M5 to the SL. I also don't like to keep moving pieces from one car to another or having anything visible when parked. Thieves just love the quick ****** and run. Thanks for the suggestion.

I hard wired my V1 by bringing the wire down the 'A' pillar and under the dash.

Once under the dash I just searched for a 'hot' wire and tapped into it. Voila!
