Is Service B required?

The car has less than 5k on it and it's only 2 yrs old. Is there any reason to postpone doing it or should we take it in?

Many services are not just milage dependent, but time dependent as well.

I just had a similar discussion with my service tech about my A service. Car only has 2K miles. He said that the reminder is more time related than engine oil wear related. He told me to bring it in and he'd reset the service reminder for about another 6 months.

You can reset the "B service " warning light yourself. Go to Benzworld.org then 230 forum scroll down to "reset b warning" and Bobterry99 has posted a link on how to reset.
