Please help... Whining metal to metal in rear wheel

My friend who owns a 05 Sl500 is experiencing some whining noise in the rear wheel area. At first he thought it was his brake and had the deal replace the rotors and pad but the noise was still there. Does anyone know what this noise can be? It only happens when the wheel is spinning. Could it be the bearings since the brakes and rotors are brand new? Dealer can't pinpoint the noise. Thanks ahead.

This is noise is probably caused by the wheels scraping against the brake caliper. Have him recheck the wheel mounting or if he's had a wheel changed to a different rim, he might need spacers.

I had the same problem with some clink noise coming from my rear left wheel. end up it was inside the emergency brake. i had to remove the rear rotors to fix my problem. hope your is the same problem. grab the emergency brake cable on back of the wheels and move it back and fort to check the noise.

My SL55 has always made a slight squeak when the brake pedal is depressed. It seems to be normal function.

depressed only??? but mine squeeks whenever it is pressed or depressed. if its normal and have no safety issues then I am cool. but it is annoying as heck.

i figured out what was causing mine to squeek. On the inside of the dust shield dirt was accumulating between the dustshield and the cv joint. I sprayed brake cleaner up in there. the first couple of shots nothing happened. then about the fourth time i had a ton of dirt drop out that had broken up.

I have to do this every couple of weeks. As of yet I havent figured out a way to stop it.
