basically a foaming gun, you just attach to the hose and insert soap. looks like it works well, i wonder if you still have to use a little elbow grease with a microfiber sponge pad after the foam is sprayed on. maybe Greg will help us...

It is a foam gun. I use one on my cars and it works quite well (one of the cars is black). What it does is to lubricate and lift off the "dirt" on the surface and helps to reduce scratching of the paint. I use a special soap that I cannot recall the name at this time that helps to create the foam. The stuff puts out a thick foam that is quite slippery but you still have to go over the surface with a wash mit. I still use the 2 bucket method even with the foam gun.
In my estimation it is well worth it if you are a perfectionist.

The way the foam is sticking in the picture it looks more like a foam cannon was used than a foam gun. Basically the difference is that a foam cannon is used with a pressure washer and the foam almost has the consistency if shaving cream. Here's a video (really bad music): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=phR_nyDwxvQ I know it says foam gun but it's a cannon. Here's a great thread at autopia.com http://www.autopia.org/forum/car-det...-much-fun.html
