Wow -- I think you just won the prize for describing the world's suckiest job. Slave away in the sun, pedaling going nowhere, with the only thing to see being a car he couldn't own in his lifetime....

My dealer told me to use two battery tenders attach to both front and rear.

He is wrong you only need one on the trunk battery, the front is charged via a 15a DC/DC converter which happens automatically.

Right or Wrong in your opinion. I'll do what my dealer told me to do and that is put a tender on both batteries.

It won't do any harm but it is not necessary, a lot of people including people at the dealership do not understand the complicated battery system in the R230 but I have done a lot of reading into the technical side of it and can tell you that the DC/DC converter is a built in battery charger for the starter battery and as long as you have a tender connected to the Aux battery in the trunk the starter battery will be kept topped off.

You can test it quite easily which I have done by the way. By monitoring the voltage on the starter battery oven a few days. What you will find is that the voltage will drop a little then come back up. This is not possible without the built in charger. You can do what ever you want I am just trying to save you time and money.

Thanks for posting Lee. I have a boat in dry storage and have been looking for something exactly like this. I ordered one. Will give it a try. If as expected I'll get another one for the other battery. Mark
