i have the same dilemma, the fact that your car is black and tinted makes it obvious - AMG Style, mine is silver-hard to choose

OK, nobody else is biting, so I'll play the devil's advocate...
CLEAR!
Seriously, though, if you like both, flip a coin. You'll do well either way. It's a sweet ride.

Go with the clear one, you can always tint the back light smokey cant you? Also your car is a dark color with dark rims, if you add smokey tail lights it would be too much, a little contrast would help the look.

Their site doesn't operate off urls, so I can't.
Start at parts.com
Select Year, Make, Model as 2007 MB SL500
In the parts list, select "Rear lamps"
For the tail lamps:
Tail Lamps > Tail Lamp assy > SL55 SL65
Center lamp:
High Mounted Stop Lamp > High Mount Lamp > w/ SL65
... of course you'll want to probably call them and verify the OE part numbers yourself before you click the buy button.

I can see going with the smoked tail lights, but I don't see a compelling reason to change out the red center for either clear or smoked. I'm thinking black paint. I'd like to do this mod, but I've dumped enough dough on my car since I bought it, so I'm cutting myself off.
Windscreen: $300
Dension Gateway: $675 installed
Flex Polisher + Menserna: $400
Lorinser 19" Wheels: $2,200 + $120 mounting
Used 19" tires: $600
Akebono Ceramic Pads: $160
Gotta put the brakes on somewhere. The cosmetic stuff can wait.

I still have to install the pads, waiting for a weekend day with no rain. And yes, your recommendation on the tires was spot on. I got some Pirelli PZero Rosso's. Love them. Thanks!
