SL/R230: SL55 N/A Mod Complete!!!
The swap started June 10 after work.IT took about 1 1/2 hours maybe 2. That friday night he swapped the pans and pump.
Saturday 13th finished swapping everything over and dropped the engine in and started to button up the car.
Monday night the car started up.
Puff of smoke and rough idle it smoothed right out. I drove it home and to be honest it felt slower than stock
Tuesday rechecked car for leaks and we reset all the adaptations.

HOLY S@#t what a difference. I am currently driving the car to adapt the shifting pattern to my driving just to show him how it actually runs (to bad it will learn back to his driving
) Just thought I would share.

The swapping involved the wiring harness, upper and lower oil pans, oil pump and chain (the chain has a different length on this specific model), pickup tube. Everything else is retained from the factory 500 engine (mounts, brackets, etc....) The A/c compressor was left in the car so the freon did not have to be evacuated. Every thing else came out then swapped over. If your going to do this don't forget to reset your fuel, sensor, and transmission adaptations. That makes all the difference. No check engine light!!! so push that pedal and drive

Oh and if you see a silver SL500 with an AMG badge on the trunk in Maryland be carefull he will pull on you. This has been proven with another service writers SL500
