R230 ABC Hydraulic fluid vs Febi 02615
It may have been asked before but I can't find it.
Is the Febi-Bilstein 02615 Hydraulic fluid comptible to MB hydraulic fluid for R230?
I talked to a representative from an online auto parts and was told that Febi 02615 can be used for the R230 (2003 SL500 specifically). Just want to be sure that is the correct information.
Thanks,

Don't know about the other fluids listed but I wouldn't go out of my way to find them or pay extra for them. As diablo stated Pentosin is available at most auto parts stores (Napa carries it I know) and the price is quite reasonable.

Reference my thread regarding Hydraulic Fluids
I looked up FEBI Bilstein, for a cross reference to their product NR 06161 which appears to be the same as CHF 11S also sold by other Mfgs as Q132-0001. My requirement is for 2003 S55 AMG. Thanks for help!

2003 SL500, Ford F-250 6.4L
ABC Hyd Fluid
Febi, Fuchs, and Pentosin, CHF-11S auto body leveling fluid all three have the Mercedes Benz approval 345.0 for use in the 2003 SL500. They all have the same thumbs up rating of 4 from Pelican Parts. O'Riely's has Pentosin for 24.95, NAPA has Pentosin for 21.95, and Pelican Parts has it on -line for $20.25. I just ordered 5 lit. of Fuchs fluid for $14.00 each and it has free shipping. It has the MBZ approval number so it works for me. It costs enough to own an SL500 so why waste your money????

I went to the Febi website and in Hydraulic Fluid 06161 section Mercedes Benz is not listed. I also googled Mercedes Benz Approval 345 and the only Hydraulic Fluid listed is Pentosin CHF 11S. This would indicate to me that The Febi product has not been approved by Mercedes Benz.
You can buy Pentosin CHF 11S in 5 liter container at Amazon for $65 plus tax and free shipping if you have Prime which come to $13 a liter.

Pentosin CHF-11s can be used in the soft top hydraulic system of the W209 CLK, but I would not use it unless I were in a real pinch. If it leaks, it will stain the roof liner and also really stink. The prescribed hydraulic fluid is non-staining and not as smelly as the CHF-11s.

if you need to add hydraulic top fluid that means a seal is leaking and you need to get it taken care of rather than just adding fluid continually as that leaking fluid is going somewhere whether it be the headliner, trunk liner, etc. I'd suggest getting into contact with tophydraulicsinc.com. Also, at least on the r230 there is a special syringe to get the fluid into the pump on the earlier style pumps that they can provide for you.
