R230 Facelift

When?

What?

I have heard mid 05 to 06 with the major design change being the ... **sigh**... SLR and new SLK bulbus nose on it.

Am I wrong? Please tell me I'm wrong!! I have a feeling the older SL's will start going up in price after this.

When has MB ever implemented a ******MAJOR***** facelift to a model? Think about what you are asking. MB did not spend millions and millions and millions of dollars to achieve the R230 design only to blow it away in 2-3 years. In that case, there would be no ROI. Expect headlight/tailight updates as well as minor interior changes. Geez, the idiocracy on this board is out of control. Those "pics" you are referring to are FAKES.

I apologize for flaming but I get aggravated when people bring up issues that have already been thoroughly dismissed.

SL55 AMG
Best to look at the recent CL and S facelifts for a clue as to what will happen and the answer is not much, a few bits here and there, of course the performance changes for the 55/600 were the most important.

The design of the bumper and sill covers can be changed relatively easily, the tooling costs are much lower compared to sheet metal which is why we get all these parasitic companies coming up with their designs. So, you may see re-designed body kit components because they are assumed to play no part in the car's crash worthiness. As soon as you start changing anything structural, you're incurring huge costs to re-certify.

I'm on the list for a face-lifted version by which time my SL55 wil be 4 years old. Unless there's a compelling reason to change (or I'm sick of Berry Red by that time), I may just hold off and wait for the next SL in 2010/11.
