2003 Sl 500 Designo Package
Smell from interior on Designo
I have a 2003 Sl 500 Designo Package and the inside smells like old stinky feet, or like cat urine. I had it to the dealership and after 400 dollars and new cabin filters and they cleaned out the heater and air lines it still smells. I have read were other Sl 500 designo cars have the same problem?? P ossible door glue or even the leather its self??? Any help?/ I contacted MB and they did call me??

His wifes head hard into the headboard nightly!!

I have a 2007 SL600 designo graphite package and it smells very nice, like leather. If you are not the original owner, some outside agency may have wet the leather seats or carpeted floor. I notice that Griots Garage, an online specialist in car detailing, has an odor remover called "stinky be gone" and a bottled scent to give your car that "new car" smell. You may want to give one of these products a try. My friends with later model designo packages do not report any problems with interior odors. Good luck in finding a cure! TwinCam

My car was parked outside for a week at the dealer for fix. Came back smelling like feet. Happened one time before and had the AC ducts cleaned and air filter changed. Moisture and dust I guess. Finally had to resort to ancient method handed down from father in law. 
Get a pineapple, chop it in half, put one half in the car on a plate, leave it in there over night, then use the other half.... car will smell fresh for long time. Mine actually was cured with a pineapple... don't ask me how or why.... it just works!

half face up for one, maybe two nights, (depends on temperature... don't want rotten fruit), then use the other half for the same purpose, or you can eat it. hope it works for you!
