Would Like Tire Recommendations.

I am in desperate need of 4 new tires for my 06 SL600, I had a low tire press message come on today, I looked at my rear tires and the inside of both back tires are worn down below the treads and the right starting hissing while back in the garage. I currently have the Michelin Pilot Sport OEM tires on the care, can't say I feel overly great about the ride comfort of them. Can you give me a recommendation for the car, best tires you would suggest.

RE: SL600 Tires

I went with OEM spec Pirelli PZero Rosso. They won't last as long as the Michelins, but have good dry traction which is a must with a tune. The Bridgestone RE050 was my 2nd choice. Very happy with the PZeros.

My car is delimited and I tend to travel fast, so my choices for the speed and weight of the SL were limited. I have found the PS2 to be a great tire.

PS2 or PS3

I see they now have a PS3 in addition to the PS2, any thoughts on them.

PS3

I have the PS3s on my 07 SL550 and absolutely love them. I went through two sets of the Pirellis and threw the second set out with about 3,000 miles left on them. Have only put about 2,000 miles on the PS3s, so I can't speak to their longevity or late life performance, but they appear to be far superior to the Pirellis in bith ride and performance. Wish I could tell you which Pirelli model I took off, but I can't. it was whatever the OEM was. Incidentally, I went with the heavy load PS3s.

RE: Tires

I forgot to mention before that the driver door post sticker on my car specifies 4 type of "approved" OEM spec tires. Everyone might want to check.

Also, I have a set of take off 05 SL500/600 5 spoke wheels with factory mounted/balanced Michelin Pilots. Wheels are brand new perfect and the tires are so new that they have all the knobby moldings on the tread, under 20 miles on them. I'm not going to use them, if anyone has interest in the set, PM me.

The pricing on the Pilot Sport AS Plus is very attractive. A friend who works in a large dealership has them on his SL and highly recommended them to me. So far I have absolutely no complaints, very nice ride.

Of the sites I looked at, they had the most consistent positive reviews.

I am considering these to replace my Pilot Sports. Please keep us posted about how they compare to your originals in terms of handling in heavy rain, noise and comfort. I find that the the Pilot Sports are terrible in heavy rain.

Conti Sport Contact 3s. (Y) speed rating. High load rating. Decent grip. Decent price.
