Designo Silver
I received word from my dealer that the Launch Additon SL 500 that I have on order will definitely be the current Designo Silver color with a Charcoal interior. I have never seen a Designo Silver MB in person. Photos can be deceiving. Opinions please.

I own an S500 in designo silver and I think it's a beautiful color -- it looks like a soft metalic gold in bright sunshine and a light greyish tan on a cloudy day. However, I think the best part of the designo silver package for the S-class is its butter yellow leather and alcantara interior with maple trim. It's disappointing to hear that the SL interior will be charcoal.

Thanks for your input. I don't know how the Charcoal interior will look with the designo silver. The G class Designo Silver package is also going to have the charcoal interior. On the worldwide MB web site, the 2003 SL Designo Silver is shown with the cream colored interior. Some people have indicated the silver paint has a green tint to it. Do you see any green in the sunshine?

Yes, there is just a hint of green under certain lighting conditions and against certain backgrounds. Since a picture is worth 1000 words, I am attaching a shot taken this morning in low-angle sunshine with daylight color balance. The color in the picture is pretty accurate (at least on my monitor) and is about as greenish as it gets.

We have been getting a whole bunch of Designo SL's at the VPC. The car is the usual silver with goldish tint to it. The interior headlining is a dark grey, almost black suede. The wheels are are thin 5 spoke rims (not like the AMG wheels).
