Need voice command manual

When we bought 2011 SL550 last year, it came with manual for command module but voice command maunal/instruction was not included. I still could not figure out how to make hand-free phone call. I wonder where I could download it.

I had the voice command setup in my CLK430. I don't know if the newer ones use different commands, but the help feature will guide you pretty well -- just hit the lever and after the beep, say "help phone". It should tell you all the commands for that device. For dialing, hit the lever and after the beep say "telephone", and the device should swith to the phone. Then hit the lever and after the beep say "dial number". You will be asked for the number to dial, just say the number next. Once the system repeats the number back to you, just say "dial", and the system should dial the number for you.

Thanks. I went to the local MB dealership to learn hand-free telephony last Friday. Salesman could not teach me how because I did not have the cell phone which was registered with command system (The car belongs to my wife. She is currently travelling in Japan with her cell phone).

BTW, I did not realize that the MB bluetooth telephony required the presence of the cell phone in the car just like starting the car without key but keylessGo key must be in your pocket. If this is the case, who needs bluetooth telephony in the car. iPhone or other smart phones can do telephony conveniently inside the car. I have a mixed feeling about MB bluetooth telephony system.

Bluetooth is a Personal Area Network (PAN) with a range of only tens of feet depending on the device. Granted you can use you phone in a car and operate it via a hands-free device, but by integrating the phone into the car via bluetooth, your radio will mute when a call is received or made, the caller-ID information will show up on you instrument cluster or other display device in the car, your phone's contacts can be accessed directly from the car's controls (steering wheel or voice commands), the sound quality of the cars microphone and speakers makes the call quality better in most cases.

Thanks for your info. I am learning a lot from this forum. Technologies move too fast. So, I am way behind the curve. My wife and I have been driving Lexus cars. Lexus GX SUV which I drive was purchased in 2005. The odomoter is barely hitting 30K miles now. When it was purchased, navigator was offered but I don't think bluetooth was available to any luxury cars then. I find that Lexus navigator system is more user friendly than that in SL550. Because of the complexity of command module in SL 550, it is very hard for us to learn how to operate the full system. So my wife gave up learning telephony but the car receives oncoming calls nicely. The car is about 9 months old. But we hardly use the command except for playing music from CD and SD card. I wish that MB provides more detailed manual including voice controlled operation like that provided by Lexus.
