Got this off some website. Do you all experience these problems?

"Here is some feedback from initial owners of the car and what kind of service problems that have been occuring. This is normal on any vehicle in its first year of production. Mercedes-Benz has been proactive with customers and are handling the initial problems well.

* Wind noise from the rear window caused by a missing seal at the bottom of the glass. Entire window must be replaced to solve.

* Some tire-pressure monitoring systems are malfunctioning due to European-spec sensors being installed in US-market wheels.

* Various ABC fluid leaks from hoses and fittings, a production change has already been implemented with updated fittings at level valves and struts.

* Third brake light flashes on and off when brakes are not even applied. New third brake light unit is needed to fix this problem.

* Ticking noises from the canister purge valve.

* Fuel sloshing noises in the fuel tank. An updated fuel tank is coming in July with more baffles in the tank, for less fuel movement.

* Evaporator temperature sensor failures, causing no cold air from the A/C system.

* Loose pressure release screw in the retractable hardtop hydraulic pump, causing the top to move slowly, or sometimes not at all."

 

3500 miles, no problems except trim around rear window replaced with update.

 

MY 2003 SL 500 (Launch Edition), build date of 02/2002, now 16 months old, used daily, with 16,000 miles had none of those problems. Giff Albright of State College, PA

was the missing seal at the rear window causing the noise? How much did it cost to replace the trim? tks for the info, you two.

 

the plastic fillers on each side of the rear window running vertical were popping out when top was put down. my friend in the parts dept said they upgraded the fasteners. it is a warranty problem if anything is wrong with a new car. plus i want the top alignment checked to see if it is rubbing the trim as the top goes down.

 

I haven't had any of the problems listed. The SL is nearly two years old from first launch, so these initial issues will have long since been sorted.

 

i have the wind thing, and when u stop and go u can hear the gas splooshing a lil

 

My SL has been behaving pretty well for 4 months of ownership and 2600 miles.

My only problems (small issues) are:
- the SBC pump is noisy when the car is first started
- window regulators DONT REMEMBER FULLY OPEN OR FULLY CLOSED Position. I swear, when is MB gonna fix this damn problem.
