Trickle Charger Question

Car will sit for two months. I am thinking of buying the Ctek charger on eBay.
Question:
Do you run the wires to the battery by keeping the trunk slightly open and if you do, will it further drain the battery.

Or do you run the wires in to the trunk through some other way?

Thanks

I ran the CTEC wires thru a battery drain orifice... The CTEC wires had to be spliced ....what a royal PITA but I felt better closing the trunk.

You can leave the trunk open, just manually push the little latch. Once you start to move the latch, it will finish locking by itself. When you're ready to disconnect the charger and shut the trunk, just pull the unlock lever as if you were opening the trunk. It will disengage the latch, and you can shut it normally.

BTW the trunk light will shut itself off after about 15 to 20 minutes. even if the lid stays open.
Cheers.

Take a small screw driver and push it into the latch. It will lock and you can pull the screwdriver out. To unlock it, assuming you have the same feature, push the green button on the backside of the trunk lid and voila, latch will unlock.

I see a couple of different CTEC units on eBay. What model should I buy?

I took everyone's suggestions last night and pushed the latch in then pulled the trunk unlock on the drivers side door panel. Pushed the lock, light went out. Pulled the unlock, and the latch opened. Therefore, I do not think I will have my MB dealer install one permantly in the trunk.

I have been using a trickle charger for the last 2 years. I leave the trunk like slightly ajar, the trunk light shuts off after several minutes as mentioned earlier. No problems with the "electric offline" light anymore!

I have the CTEK 3300, which is a dead ringer for the Mercedes-branded charger.
