Car STUCK in park! Help!
well it happened today, now the car is stuck in park in the parking lot, I did some research and it seems to be a cheap platic piece broken within the shifter. what are my options, can someone post a DIY to remove the plastic piece, I dont have kids, not worried about knocking it into drive...how long will it take? what are my options at this point?
thanks.
thanks.

You can take the shifter out and replace the broken piece. http://www.ebay.com/itm/310362461281...84.m1439.l2649

stuck in park - I have the parts required for repair
http://www.monoglobal.com.au/
I have all the levers in stock and ship daily.
Repair your ESM lever properly - do not just remove your broken part because your car can be then released from park by children in the car - it's no good if your car rolls down the hill with the kids in it.......
Exclusive offer for mbworld readers - Mention mbworld with your order and I will include 3 day express shipping with TNT for FREE
Easy to fit by DIY'er or MBZ workshops.

the pen trick will not work on our SL.
you will have to remove the shifter to replace the levers.
I did it couple of years ago and got the levers from monoglobal.com.au
no I didn't pic's. if you're not mechanically incline better get someone to do it.

how about just removing the plastic piece, does anyone have a guide on how to do that? Do I need to jack the car up?

If I have the mechanic just take out the broken plastic piece will this resolve the issue? I understand that it will go into drive without the foot on the brake if I do this, question is would it go from drive to reverse or something like that without the plastic piece?
Thanks.
Thanks.

I took the car to a local import shop and they removed the plastic piece of crap, I didnt think they would do it but I had to sign a waiver, it doesnt bother me and I really dont notice much difference. Only question is the tech said i should set the brake if I park on a hill or incline as he said it could pop out of park, is this something I should be concerned about? I couldnt see this happening?

Shifter Stuck in Park - Los Angeles Mechanic Needed
I've read the many posts about the common 'Shifter Stuck in Park' problem.
Has anyone had a positive experience with a trusted mechanic in the Los Angeles area? I am looking to find a mechanic shop that can replace the small plastic piece that is causing the problem -- the two shops I visited want to charge $500-650 just for LABOR!
If anyone has had this problem and was able to affordably fix the problem, please send the mechanic's info (I am not inclined to try this myself).
Thanks!
