What year do you have? I was under the impression that the catalytic converters were covered under an 8 year warranty. Check with MB directly.

I believe that the Cat and ABS system have different warranty lengths mandated by the Feds. I have a friend who has an 03 and has had the ABS replaced. You should call MB directly or take it to a Indy who can also read the codes. Ifind it difficult to believe that two have gone bad. You really need to drill down on this. I do not believe the mileage matters.

Just found that it is a Federal law 8 years/80000 miles. Sorry. Check the Internet. There are a lot of less expensive cats yet you will need an Indy to install.

I would bring it to a local shop. I'm assuming the dealer is talking about the primary cats located near the exhaust manifold since the secondaries have no sensor attached and can be removed completely without any issue.

I believe the 2006 is the same as my 03 and the primary cats are on the same pipe as the secondary. If that is the case you should be able to have a local exhaust shop cut and weld some universal cats in their place. Still going to cost about $1,500.00 bucks at a reputable shop to do both.
