Cigarette lighter not working - NOT the fuse

I have an 04 SL500 and front cigarette lighter will not work. I have confirmed the fuse is not blown (f11, 30 Amp) but replaced it anyway to be safe. Possibly a loose wire on the lighter assembly itself? How do I remove the front cigarette lighter to confirm, and/or remove the ashtray assembly? Or anything else maybe I am missing? Thanks!

OK - I was able to resolve this myself. The cigarette lighter power cable had become disconnected. I confirmed and fixed it (plugged it back into the lighter) by removing the center console trim.

How difficult was it to remove the console panel?

Actually much easier than I would have thought. Here is a link to a great how-to illustrated with pix. http://www.mercupgrades.com/Removing...rticle-68.html
My next project will be to run power lines off of the existing lighter plug/wires to mount a second lighter in center glove compartment (for additional power option)
