Torx Sockets?????????????

I have a 2006 SL500. The valve covers are leaking so I plan on tightening them. When I finally got the engine cover off I noticed the valve cover bolts have a wierd head configuration. It looks like they're torx head bolts which require a torx socket, which I don't have because I've never seen torx headed bolts before.

I need to know if it's a torx head bolt or something different so I can buy whatever tool I need? Is it a torx headed bolt and if not, what is it?

Also, will these torx bolts, if torx is what they are, be metric sized. In other words do they make torx in both metric and SAE sizes?

Thanks.

Just drive your car to your local Harbor freight and buy a set, it should do the job thats what I did when I changed my vc gasket. I think its under 10 bucks

Good to know that the Torx will work. Thank you for that info.

As for a SAE socket working, I read a thread that said a 3/8" socket will work, but I tried two different 3/8" 12 point sockets and they didn't work. Maybe I'll try some metric sockets to see if they work.

Thanks again.
