According to Wikipedia just over 10,000. I just purchased my 2005 and was wondering the same thing. There is some great information on the SL line posted on the Wikipedia page.

He asked how many 2005 SL600's were made, not how many R230's were made. The average production of SL600 R230's were 15-20 per month.

I have a 2005 SL600. I think between 200 and 300 would be a good estimate based on the searching I did at the time to find one equipped as I wanted.

Posted below are numbers for AMG cars sold in USA........

If 10,000 SLs were made in 2005 and 651 - 65s and 1072 - 55s for 2005...

It is possible there were probably between 1200 - 1,500 of the SL 600s sold.....

The rationale.....the number I would estimate would be higher for the SL 600 than for the AMG cars........as the AMG 65 cars were special ordered not allocated thus difficult to find new, more expensive price point, etc....than a 600..........

Not perfect science at all.....as it could be that there were less 600s than 55s.......but they couldn't have been less than the 65s........
