2003 Sl 500 20" Wheels Staggered Tire sizes?

Hello everybody,

I have purchased a set of staggered wheels 20"x8.5 (front) 20"x10 (Rear) to go on my 2003 SL 500. I bought them used from someone who had them mounted on an ML 63 so i dont know what is the appropriate tire size without rubbing. Is anyone out there using the same setup? Which tire sizes work for you? I've taken them to 3 other tire shops and they all gave me different sizes and said "if the tires don't clear your fenders, you will still have to pay for them". Please help!

Tell us your wheels' offsets first.

Hello,

After measuring the offset (its not stamped on the wheel) its about -44mm front and -32mm rear. These used to be mounted on an ML63 AMG.

Front wheel (8.5" wide et44, if correct) will not fit SL - offset is too high. You'll need 15mm H&R DR spacers, part number 30556659 (make sure it is 30556659 and not 3055665 as later one will not fit front hub). You will need longer bolts too. Once offset is brought down to et29 or so, you can run 255/30-20 or if you want higher sidewall - 245/35-20.

Rear (10" wide et32, if correct) would fit fine, but I would still use 10mm H&R DR spacesr 2055665 for more aggressive stance. You can use 295/25-20 or (for higher sidewall) 285/30-20.

This may help you as well:
Go into an offset calculator online and figure out the comparable offsets with any variation in wheel width.....but I can tell you the following would fit and be pretty aggressive, but without rub anywhere:
fronts:
9x20 ET 25
running 245/35/20
rears:
10.5x20 ET 30
running 275/30/20

Good luck.
