SL/R230: ignition problems '05 sl500
I just purchased a 2005 r230, 49,000 kms. The car was in great shape, so I didnt think there would be problems but I'm having trouble with starting the engine once in a while, both Keyless-GO and manual key turn start. I've replaced the batteries in the fob. This happens about every 10 starts or so, but almost always seems to happen when I've had the car parked outside for a few minutes, maybe its too cold for the batteries? about 6 degrees celcius outside. It frustrating I can't poinpoint when it is going to happen.
Most times it works just fine, then when I drive it and park it for say 10 minutes, I come back and the car wont start. The radio turns on, the steering adjustment starts running then it gives me a ESP 'display malfunction, see workshop'. I try it again, same thing, 'key not detected'. I insert the key, it turns all the way to ignition position but nothing happens. To resolve the issue, I lock the car up, unlock try again, it starts.
I'm new to mercedes, so I have no idea of the glitches, but can somebody help me isolate and find the problem? Here is a video of the problem, each time I press gas pedal, and press the keyless go button, the key is in my hand the whole time.
