Hello all, my 2005 SL55 has aluminum in lieu of the wood trim on the console and doors. In a several month search of SL500's and SL55's this is the only car I've seen with aluminum trim.

Did one have the option of selecting either wood or aluminum when ordering the car or, was the aluminum an extra cost option?

Was aluminum trim available on SL500's or, was it an SL55 option only?

Is the aluminum pretty rare or was it just coincidence I didn't see any other cars advertised with it when I was searching?

I searched but did not find any discussion on this.

Nothing like that in the Dealer Ordering Guide for model year 2008. Could be aftermarket.

It is definitely factory not aftermarket........here in OZ all SL55's ive ever seen have the aluminium trim (early models) later can have the black or CF but definitely not wood........never seen aluminium in SL500s.......

SL65s though here generally have wood......but can have aluminium or black or CF......
