I don't see how my moms $35k or whatever C250 has leveling xenon headlamps and the $150k SL doesn't. Something's gotta be up.

The extra lights are cornering lights, the headlamps are available with or without this feature,
Cornering lights are part of the "intelligent light system"
Forget about retrofitting that :-)
@Raffi yes, your mothers C250 have auto leveling headlamps, your SL has auto leveling suspension

Our old S-Class with Airmatic (auto-leveling suspension) also had auto-leveling xenon headlights.
Last but not least, if the R230 headlight upgrades that RAFFI and SL4life had made with auto-leveling headlights, aren't the Xenons pointing down in their "non-leveled" position since the headlights are waiting for Level info from the sensors?

I know it's a different car, but our R231 with ABC seems to auto-level the headlights. At least it goes through a cool start-up sequence, going up/down/outwards/inwards.

I may be wrong but I would think (logically) that the default position of the projector would be to shine straight, and then adjust up or down accordingly.
Since 1998, regulation ECE R48 requires the compensation of vehicle inclination caused by different load conditions. The aim is to*avoid glaring of oncoming traffic*and to ensure excellent illumination range.

Both, the new and old ones were auto-levelled and I couldn't figure out the pin-outs at the time.
The new ones were in a "pointing-down" low position, not straight and could not be properly adjusted manually (at least I couldn't ). The max was still too low. It may be different on the R230 though.

We had upgraded the headlights on our W220 S500 many years ago and had the same issue.

I had to get a shot of the guys at STS Tires wrestling to get the 4 super low profile tires on the rims! Hour and a half for all 4! Smh. I had to tip em in the end! Lol

So I finally got the chance to reverse the pins today, and everything functions except for the parking lights still lol. Wonder what it could be. I'm glad at least I have high beams now!

My side marker lights had no power to them (not as a result from the conversion) so my guys jumped them from the parking lights since the same position on the light switch controls both.

Hmm this might be an idea! Would you happen to know which wire on the headlight harness controls the parking light?

nice project!!!!
few questions.
How much did you pick up the car for and did it have a salvage title?
Also the parts you used are oem? you basically bought hood, fenders, front and rear bumpers with headlights for 4500?
last-- the sl63 bumper came with those led drl's? i remember seeing the w216's and s221's but didn't know the s230's did...

Any chance you could supply a few pics of how the Muffler tips are fitted,
Then i can figure out if i need to buy the tips with the connecting pipe in the middle or on the side...
