I have not been able to open the console or glovebox in my 2005 SL 500 for several years. The key won't open them, they are firmly latched shut. Any suggestions on what it takes to unlock them???

Aren't these controlled by the Central Locking System?

I just did my shifter fix and noticed that the center console lid has a vacuum valve on the front side to lock the center console. Its most likely controlled by the locking system like the other vacuum locks. I am not sure how to open other than pulling the vacuum lines off pump and suck to get the lid unlocked.

Probably not "locked" shut, probably just a sticky latch.
