How much fuel do you have left?
I know exactly how much.
Lots have done this on the W211, but I don't ever recall it being done on an R230. Got to tinkering, used Google translate for German---->English, and BOOM! It's a little different than the 211, but...

On my SDS you go into the developer menus of the instrument cluster and from there it is:
After you change any settings you may need to reset the cluster for the changes to take immediate effect. Reset is under "Actuations" on the main menu for the cluster.
Control unit adaptations > Variantenkodierung > Bild Reichwerte und Tankinfo
Your software may have different text. The key word you are looking for is "Tankinfo".After you change any settings you may need to reset the cluster for the changes to take immediate effect. Reset is under "Actuations" on the main menu for the cluster.

There are 3 instances of Tankinfo under Variant Coding, on my SDS for the SL600. Can't remember them off hand, and don't have the SDS in front of me. I do know the text was slightly different between my 211 and 230. I think I translated the Tankinfo instances to mean tank content, range and I think low fuel warning (or maybe reserve) was the 3rd.
My 211..
