replace gas cap tether
hello to all! thank you to all who have been a great help so far on my new SL, I greatly appreciate it!
When I purchased my new gas cap, I was unable to untether the old gas cap, so I simply snapped it.
Is there a process to release the button which holds the end of the tether which is attached to the gas cap so that I may secure it?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

UPDATE - I DID REPLACE, after all, the purge valve (under the hood, driver's side, you will need to replace the original clamps). Knock on wood...all seems to be good, so far. I suppose all of the prior presupposition was just that. THANK YOU FORUM!!
