Is there a decent source for a updated navigation DVD besides Mercedes at $249? I'd like to update but not at that price....😀

Unfortunately no. In fact the latest "update" is from 2011. So you may not be all that happy with it anyway. The NAV system in my '08 SL is sorely lacking IMHO.

There are some vendors on Ebay advertising lower prices, you may have some luck there. The NAV software is platform specific, so choose wisely.

The latest update for the 2008 SL is the just released V-15 dated 2015-2016. Find it by searching and ordering the DVD for a 2008 E class. I got mine from navigation.com, the manufacturer but they are still $249. Since V-15 is the final update for the NTG-1 navigation system I think it is worth purchasing.

Has anyone else tried the V15 Nav update on the 07-08 SL550? Mine came with an 07 disk and I'd like to update that database.

Yes, I bought the update and installed it in my 2008 SL550 and it worked just fine with no problems.

Can someone help me understand if I need an update of the firmware to update to a V12 2018 map or will the following be OK?

It's an E350 W212 2010 NTG4.

FL VER: BLD-NR-212 0.27
NAVI VER: 00.20.50_ECE
CPU VER: 10200:00
SWDL VER: 90.16.02

or do I need a visit to the dealer for an update?
Maps currently on are from 2014 possibly a V11 or earlier.
